Fireplace Plus App Reviews

The classic is the best of the four. You have a winner with the free app, however the loop timing on the three new fireplaces are not seamless and instead are very noticeable. In order of best to worst, 1st Classic, 2nd Stone Age, 3rd Campfire, 4th Modern. The Classic has all the right elements, the flames stay in frame and the video is loop perfect, nice crackle, but no poker :-(. Na, who needs an arm in the video, especially when you are trying to make the app small. Did you not have an HD source so you couldnt upgrade it? I saw the fade-to in the Stone Age and then an abrupt cut. Also I cant see any wood. Stone Age should still have some wood and coals. The Campfire flames seem a bit too high, and flow out of frame. This could be my second favorite. I like the wind blowing, again I noticed the seam in the video. At first, I thought my hard drive was busy, but it happened again and then again, so then I knew, its the seam. Trouble with flame height, no real control outside, with wind and all. Seriously, Modern can go. The crackle seems out of place and and the visual around the flames arent my taste. I wont mark you down for it, its just not pleasant to look at. If it were in my house, I would buy a new house, or a wood burning stove insert to replace it. the brick seemed too fake. The glass and silver things, yeah thats just modern yuck. I think you can redo these, maybe have the fade-to somewhere in the middle and trial and error to get the ends seamless. I dont know how much trouble you went through to make the additional fires. They seemed a bit more rushed than the Classic, which is almost flawless. Keep up the good work, I want to see some updates. :-)

Its a good app and I like just having it on here in Minnesota. Since I dont have a fireplace, its a good visual. I can set it up and help set a nice quiet evening.

All the great features the classic Fireplace App provided plus more! This elegantly simple application lets you enjoy a beautiful fireplace. The audio is superb, the roar and crackle of the fire heart warming. If youre this review, you owe it to yourself to give Fireplace Plus a try.

Definitely worth a buck. Turn the crackle all the way up and enjoy the ambiance!

I tried other fireplace apps and this one is the only one that has seamless audio, though the video quality needs an upgrade, colors are too bleached!

One cant help but believe that a real fire is more alluring than a digital one. Right? The use of this application is pretty sparse, but I suppose this depends on the person. The video quality is good, although the colors are somewhat pale. The video quality of this plus version is only minimally better than the free version. Side option window could be improved.

I cant think of anything to make this better for the price. Ive tried countless fake fireplaces and none come close. Unless you are *REALLY* picky... you will love this app. So simple, so functional.

Great app. Cant deny that. The classic is, well...classic. I reallu enjoy the stone background and even the camp ground one...but the modern one...yikes. Watch HGTV. Modern = Simple. Aesthetically pleasing. What you have looks like the making of a meth lab in a bad part of town. Image search modern fireplace and the first rows are spot on. Other than that...lol...amazing app. (if the modern didnt look so crappy, this would be 5 stars) (please take this into consideration) :)

The app is visually nice, but why cant I use it as my screen saver? Very confused, that seems like an obvious no-brainer to me.

My girlfriend and I were looking for something to set the mood in our living room during the depressing winter months. This app really fits the ticket! The crackles and pops really compliment the vibrant HD-quality fire video, mixed with some quiet holiday music really warm up the place on a cold winters day -- transforming your dismal den into a cozy winter cabin. For a perfect evening, just fire up (no pun intended) this app, add some spirits (warm preferred) and a nice cozy place to cuddle and youve got a terrific evening with someone special. Cheers!

This is a nice apt! we have it on oyur desktop and face it twards the table during dinner, if your paying attention you can see it loop, and you have to set the screensaver to not go off but we were very happy with it! Relaxing, lol much better than the news or an old rerun on tv!

Tried the free version and liked it so thought I would support the developer and buy the plus. The original fireplace looks and sounds great. The three additional ones all have an obvious and noticeable stutter where the video loops. For a paid app, I would expect the video to be seamless. Hope there is an update soon to fix that. Otherwise, if you want a real soothing fireplace experience, just download the free version.

Its a nice app, but its not a seemless loop. At least not on my Gen 3 mac mini. There is a noticable stutter around every 6 seconds or so. Its not a deal breaker but it is noticeable. All in all, Im happy with my purchase. Those of you complaining the the fire seems washed out, you have to remember that the clasic fire and the camp fire are real wood fires and will have more red in it and more depth of color because burning wood releases gasses that affect the color of the flame. The Modern fire and the Stone age fire are gas fires. Either propane or natural gas. Because of this, the color will be lighter and have little color variation than you would see in a wood fire. These can seem more washed out.

I almost never bother to review - well, actually, I dont think I have EVER bothered to review an app, but I had to write in and thank the makers for this one. Ive searched high and low for a good fireplace emulator (would have settled for decent), but all Ive ever found were so-so graphics looped embarrassingly badly and sound like crackly plastic cups crunched in my hands. Until now. This fireplace is so real, I almost felt the heat on my face. It looks and sounds more like video of a fireplace looped so seamlessly that I almost fell asleep watching before I caught the skip signalling it had looped back. This is a completely realistic emulation - the flickering flames mesmerized me, startling me every now and then when a log popped and spit a flaming piece of itself at the glowing embers underneath the pile. The sound was perfectly in sync with the image on screen. I was even able to play my smoky jazz low in the background. I couldnt have asked for a better experience - Id pay many more times what I did. This IS a fireplace, sans the mess and heat. Trust someone too lazy to ever bother reviewing and buy this. Youll be so glad you did.

OK, obviously anyone who purchases this "app" is going to think theyre buying a screensaver. Not the case. This is simply a video of a burning fireplace that will not enlarge to full screen or serve as a screensaver. Rubbish, and an absolute, brazen ripoff!

I paid for this and was disappointed. The video clearly skips when it resets to the beginning about every 15-20 seconds. The Free one does not. Granted, its only $.99, but Im still out a dollar, because I deleted right away.

It is amazing to me that people will pay $2.50 or more for a cup of coffee and then nitpick a $0.99 app that is just great. When I start this app on my 27 inch iMac, my dates burst out laughing, then beg me not to turn it off, then stay until morning. I am a big fan!!!

oh even has a campfire now!!! as I dream of my camping that has to wait till MAY!!!!
