Fireplace Plus App Reviews

video loops skip

Downloaded the free version, I liked it so much I thought I would support the product and buy the full up version. I was excited by the "no obvious looping" claim in the description. However, all 3 extra video sequences have VERY obvious looping! Stick with the free version.

A satisfying app

The only thing that keeps me from rating this app a five-star wonder is the lack of AirPlay support. It would be great if I could stream the digital fire to my television through AppleTV.

No reason to pay for the plus/premium version

I liked the free version and the additional fires in this app are not very appealing and are not any better resolution or appearance. The picture should be HD and not hesitate during the reset of the loop. The sound is very realistic but instead of an actual app this should perhaps be a screen saver function too. Need improvement.

Good but… incomplete

This app is a good app. Excellent quality on the fire, and the sound is ok, HOWEVER, if you put the app into fulscreen mode your screensaver will eventually come on. There are no preferences where you can fix that, the only way to keep your screen saver from covering up your fire is to disable your screensaver. A simple thing that makes the difference between 3 & 5 stars for me.

Very Good

This app is very good; however, the "Modern" and "Campfire" modes both have obvious looping points. The "Stone Age" and "Classic" modes are awesome and you cant tell where the loop is. Please tweak the other two, and youll have a definite five-star app. On the whole, though, this is the best fireplace app that I have run across, even with the couple of loop points factored in.

better than the real thing

…. okay, maybe not *better*, but its definitely a good virtual substitute for the real thing. We get tons of compliments on our fireplaces …. thanks for a great app!

Worse than free version

Saw this updated version and the promise of HD, additional views, stereo crackle and "seamless" looping. Id buy that for a dollar. Well, wishing I hadnt. VERY obvious looping after only a few seconds. If HD means highly deceitful, then yes….its HD. Otherwise, the picture is not HD (and I do have an HD monitor). Do not waste your money.

Beautiful app!

Works as advertised.

Happy to support the developer, but….

The description claims that the paid version of Fireplace takes up fewer system resources than the free version. Untrue. On my late 2010 Macbook Air the paid version (FireplacePlus) consumes considerably more resources than the free version of Fireplace. The additional fires, though nice, dont compare to the (exceptional) original. Unless the developer makes a significant update to this one, save your $1 and stick with the free version.

Close but not quite there

The first time you throw this on your laptop or imac its not bad, good looking fire and nice adjustable sound etc. However when you throw this up on a larger tv which i feel like is the only realistic use for this application, its just doesnt hold up. As another individual mentioned, the video-loop is not seemless on most of the fires and they just are not high enough resolution to be impressive. I Like the idea, I also like the user interface, just need to beef up the visuals and do some serious loop editing.

not worth it

it’s a pretty simple concept—video of a fire. But the quality is pretty terrible, especially the break every 20 seconds or so when the video “loops” (despite the description that it doesn’t). Spend the dollar somewhere else.

It’s nice…But one thing?

The app has potential. It has four different fire types and they look like fire with crackle and pop. BUT, every 45 to 60 seconds the loop freezes for a split second. Such a small complaint but it really detracts from what one intends by using such medium. I’m still going to use it. But I think I’m just going to load a FREE YouTube video (1080P) on MY AppleTV and have that playing on the 4K set instead. Last thought, I wish there was a way to sample different apps that one is interested in purchasing PRIOR to buying. Kind-of-like the 30 or 60 seconds clips in iTunes. Hmmm, I wonder…..

Pretty good, but loop is very apparent and often

i like it and i use it, but there has got to be a better way to hide the loop. what about a fade out at the same time fading in?
